Regarding Respawn, Tribal and Pauper.

Post  Rusty on Wed Nov 30, 2011 1:34 am

So Respawn, didn't quite go to plan. Speaking to members during and after the event it has came to my attention that people would like the following;

A Ban placed on the use of Praetors in Multiplayer games.
The Praetors:

Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite
Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur
Sheoldred, Whispering One
Urabrask the Hidden
Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger
Note, this only effects games with more than 1 opponent; ie Respawn, Arena, 2 headed giant etc.

We are also changing the rules of Respawn to include: A player who marks up 2 kills without dying must respawn.

And in the notion of trying to keep these Special Archmage tournaments fun, we are placing a Ban List for Tribal and Pauper too;

Tribal Rules:

A tribal deck must contain 15 cards of your chosen Creature Type.
For example, look at the card Wild Nacatl, it has the Creature Types of: Cat and Warrior

So if you wanted to use this card, you could choose either Cat Tribal or Warrior Tribal. You would then need at least 14 more Cat cards, or Warrior cards to complete the tribal deck.

The decks must be 60 cards, and can have a 15 card sideboard.

Enchantments, Artifacts, Planeswalkers and Lands do NOT count as Tribal. This includes all subtypes like, Equipment, Aura etc.

Tribal Banlist:

Arboria
Artisan of Kozilek
Balance
Channel
Circle of Solace
Demonic Consultation
Demonic Tutor
Engineered Plague
Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
Extinction
Fastbond
Flash
Gleemox
Gush
Hand of Emrakul
Imperial Seal
It That Betrays
Kozilek, Butcher of Truth
Library of Alexandria
Mana Crypt
Mana Vault
Mishra's Workshop
Moat
Necropotence
Pathrazer of Ulamog
Peer Pressure
Skullclamp
Sol Ring
Spawnsire of Ulamog
Stasis
Strip Mine
The Abyss
Time Vault
Tinker
Tolarian Academy
Tsabo's Decree
Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre
Ulamog's Crusher
Umezawa's Jitte
Vampiric Tutor
Wheel of Fortune
Yawgmoth's Will

Pauper Rules:

A Pauper deck is a 60 card deck, a 15 card sideboard is allowed. A Pauper deck is not allowed to use ANY mythic rares, OR rare cards.
Out of the total 75 cards in deck (60 mainboard, 15 sideboard) you are allowed No more than 5 Uncommon Cards, the rest must be common.
This includes lands.

Pauper Banlist:
All Mythic Rares
All Rares
Jeweled Bird
Timmerian Fiends
Bronze Tablet
Brain Freeze
Ali From Cairo
Bazaar of Baghdad
Berserk
Candelabra of Tawnos
Diamond Valley
Juzam Djinn
Library of Alexandria

And to note, The Ally creature type will likely be restricted, the number to be determined soon.

Sounds good to me.

Also, a constant player-to-table ratio would be good as at one point there was six on one table and three on the other.

The banning of the "unfair" cards should help in that aspect. But I will certainly think on this and try and come up with something.

As in the two headed giant games, two players cont as a single opponent, do Praetors need to be banned?

Thats open for discussion. People seem to find them unfun so I wrote what seemed sensible to me.
